How it Works

Where & When

Lessons are face-to-face and take place at my home in near Lewes.

For after-school tuition, I work weekdays between 3.30pm and 6.00pm.

I am also available during the day for home educated children.

I am happy to offer additional sessions during the school holidays. These are charged at my usual rate.

I offer a free 1-hour meeting with parents to learn about your child’s strengths, interests and the difficulties they are having.

This also gives you the opportunity to see where they will be working and how the lessons are structured.

Consultation with Parents
Initial Assessment

I offer a 1-hour initial assessment of your child. I will email you feedback on the areas I would cover over the first few weeks should you decide to begin regular tutoring.

Please note, this is not a diagnostic or screening test, the assessment is to inform my teaching and planning.

Booking

I ask you to pay in advance for a half term at a time (typically 6 weeks) in line with East Sussex County Council holidays.

For the first two sessions you may pay on a weekly basis to make sure your child feels happy and comfortable with the lessons going forward.

I charge £40 for each 1-hour lesson.

The initial 1-hour assessment is at the same rate.

I understand that on occasion a child may be unable to attend a pre-paid session because of illness or other unexpected events. I cannot offer refunds; however, if a lesson has to be cancelled I will do my best to rearrange it for another mutually agreeable time.

Feedback to parents

I believe it is essential for parents to be informed of the work their child covers and of the progress they are making. After each weekly session I will provide a summary of the main teaching point (either verbally at pick-up or by email if preferred) along with work that can be completed at home to reinforce learning.

In addition, at the end of each half term I will email a summary of all areas covered, the progress your child has made, and an outline of what we will move onto next.
